The writer portrays eight stories in a complex web of human relations dominated by the cruelty that emerged in institutions, above all in the family.

Buenos Aires, January 24 (agency NAN-2011) .- Social In (The End of the Night), Maria Barrientos narrates through eight short stories a complex human relations. In each of the stories - told in first person - flies a range of cruelty. Barrientos, literature teacher and librarian, tracks and investigates cruelty in social institutions, above all in the family. Formally, each adding information stories. In each story, the writer adds details of his characters, weaving together connections between its parts. Uses a coral structure in his stories, the same used the creative duo who formed the director Alejandro González Iñárritu and screenwriter Guillermo Roots in the brilliant trilogy Amores perros, 21 grams and Babel.
In "Waitress luxury", "social", "Feng Shui" and "Do the right thing" involved a character scene and fragile negligible cross: Esquéletor, depressive and anorexic girl (said I was fat and weighed 45 kilos, so not eating and walked past without looking in the mirror, "says the narrator), the Black, a sociology student disillusioned with the profession; Quemado, a cocaine user, intellectually demolished, whose mother prefers him dead, Alma, a waitress considered unsuccessful by his family, Marilyn, the only group that seems to have no problems and is considered divine, and Cardoso, a former soldier and admirer Hitler, who killed militants during the dictatorship ("good times" to him), besides being a scholar of esotericism.
"We felt safe in the group, away from an adult world that we came to understand," says the narrator, Alma. Each of the characters carries a dysfunction in your family that leads to situations of cruelty. These characters crossed by treachery, contempt and violence. Thus, the author takes aim at a major bourgeois institutions: the family type.
Meanwhile, in the last four, "Dancing Arabs", "Michi", "Happiness" and "Journey" displays another set of characters with dysfunctional families. They are losers, reactionary, dissenting: a "kept" candidate for Nobel Literature and wife, sustained by the income of their income, and treacherous and thirsty for revenge, a wealthy lady and deceived, whose only companion is a cat, which 70s believed that "lefties were the incarnation of the devil" and that "their heads all they did was to have children "(resembling Mirtha Legrand, right?) and a former dandy who lives like a pauper and that 20 years later learns he has a daughter who dances belly dance for a living. Through these characters, Barrientos returns to its X-ray against the families and their hypocrisy and conservative values, tells deceptions, betrayals, rejections appearances and hypocritical parents.
In summary, the third book of Barrientos (before he had published two works that had received awards from the Writers Society of Argentina and the Poetry Journal) has daily patterns, apparently simple, with a conversational writing but precise he has a grin on the facades of perfection of the family.
