Buenos Aires, March 2 (NAN Agency, 2011) .- Marta purely a trip did not anticipate that this would result in profound and permanent change in the way see the world and see themselves. Is that after touring Latin America the young photographer and painter born in Ledesma (Jujuy) got reacquainted with their roots tied to Andean culture and express all that on each of their works. "When I walked into an art movement, while studying photography, I met people totally different around me and from there I started traveling and made a click. I started painting accepting that reality, to take care of my history and my roots. For me painting is therapy. Before I was ashamed that she was the daughter of a Bolivian woman but now I say this with pride, "says puram, during a warm chat with NAN Agency in the Plaza de Mayo.

- So trips were an influence on your art?
- I think the fact of travel and experience other cultures opens your head too much. I try, through a picture or several, to reflect what I experienced, what happens to me, my travel experiences that helped me to understand and accept where I come from.

The young artist who studied photography at the Casa de la Cultura de Avellaneda and painting in a small workshop that from their experience of backpacking in Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Mexico and Bolivia became more tools to his art. "When I started working on the street, I started with photography. He had a series of photos he had taken in of Coroico Yungas (Bolivia) and sold on the street. Gradually I began to incorporate other techniques such as etching and then threw me to painting with acrylics. One day I was painting a little way and then I started to paint Nicholas, but with a more naive not pulled the photos. And little by little was left to sell and I lost myself in my paintings, "he says.

cholitas images with typical skirts, away from bright colors, hats, ponchos, and long braids live in their jobs, or playing the siku cholitos, working the land, watching the sun or boating on Lake Titicaca. All images captured in paint on canvas Martha offered every evening at the fair in the pedestrian in Peru and Avenida de Mayo. The artist who now lives in Berazategui also uses other styles: woodcuts, drawings and photographs, always with the same subject.

most used technique to create is to take photographs and then paint these images, but with some tweaks. "There are many images I get from my photographs, but the paint with a more naive, not so realistic. I travel all over the record what I see, and then incorporating the painting going, "said the girl, convinced that" photography and painting are complementary techniques. "

Back to home
Marta's mother was born in Potosi, and as a young man decided to go and live in Jujuy to work the sugar cane harvests. In Yuto, in the department of Ledesma, Martin was born and spent the first years of his life. Soon the two were moved to Buenos Aires and she grew up in the city. Marta had to travel began to recognize its original identity. "For several years I took a lot to take care of my roots because I felt discriminated girl. And when I started traveling my mom always asked me 'why do not you go to Bolivia? " and I wondered 'Why do I have to go in Bolivia? " And it had to do with a theme of taking charge of my roots, my culture, because at that time felt that he was prepared to accept that part of my story, "says the artist with a smile on his face.

"After touring Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela and Mexico, I traveled through northern Argentina and felt I had lost to know beautiful places. When I went to Chiapas, Mexico, my mom saw the pictures and told me that the landscape was very similar to Bolivia for the people's clothing and features. And when I finally went to Bolivia could not believe it. I could not understand how I had gone so far to find something that was so near. " From that moment, Marta did not stop to admire and paint the landscapes of the country where his mother was born. Forms

While Marta girl he liked art, big was adding new artistic techniques that enriched their work. After making an initiation workshop to painting, the artist chose printmaking techniques and drawing. "I discovered a world with the engraving" he says. "There are different techniques depending on the materials with which you work. Now I'm making copper plate engravings, with two totally different techniques. Working with different materials and techniques but always with the same subject. I complement it, "he enthuses.

His paintings, which draw the attention of anyone passing by walking the pedestrian (tourist or not), know accurately reflect their experiences, their Andean identity, through the human figures and perfect use of colors, lights and shadows. In addition, depicts landscapes that seem to evoke sunsets on the Isla del Sol and Copacabana. "I like to show through my art where I come from. People come and ask and I like to tell you what interests me reflect. For me it was a joy to discover that the other people were interested in my work. And through I related to paint people who had also traveled and has more head open. The good thing is that you comment on travel and spend your data ", told the artist, who is currently traveling in Bolivia.

- Do you think that there is now greater acceptance of Latin American culture in our country?
- I think after 2001 there was a big change. The Argentinian became aware that is part of Latin America. Lacked that shock to realize that. I also think that a change in the whole of South America, for example with Evo (Morales), who claims the Bolivian people. Although Buenos Aires is the center of Argentina, I think you also have to look the other way. And a little bit of Buenos Aires are becoming interested in traveling and looking for the interior. That's good. Are also being charged in this country that there are different cultures.
